Well a new year is coming and I pledge to become dedicated to the initiative of sharing my ideas utilizing various multimedia tools to capture your students attention and ignite their imagination in relation to scientific topics. I hope that you find my ideas useful and I also look forward to recieving your responses about additional, comments, ideas, and or suggestions you may have for me.
Thanks,

Students these days....or should I say everybody
Consider the following situtation a student sits in a classroom in the 9th or 10th grade and teacher quickly realizes that this student can not read? Or maybe a teacher realizes that for all intensive purposes that most of his/her class cannot read and she in all effects is wasting her time talking about some overly technical science phenomena. Why because the kids can't even read! What are you to do as a teacher of this class? A. Continue to teach science phenomena to students that couldnt pass a standardized test about the configuration of their own living quater or B. Teach them to read. You will find no sanity in teachin these little humans what E=MC squared means because they have no concept of the concept relevant to making this concept even remotely a conceptual concept in their concept less minds. So yes I say forget those freaking four letters of pain and studpidity thought of by a man who has no concept about the concept of school and would probably be one of the most conceptless teachers I have ever met considering I have seen him on tv on numerous occasision and I have never even until this day seen him discuss a novel concept to me. Yes NCLB No Child Left Behind, How about we actually do it pick these kids up and address their real issuess; subpar reading, writing and arithmetic skills. So my advice step back from the curriculum, because truth be told most of these students if they could really read the test, they would pass it, why because most of these joke End of cours test we give in this country are measures of a students ability to analyze not retain knowledge. Yep, I'm saying it teach the basics save your pain and frustration with these students not understanding some of these irrelevant standards and make sure that they can retain knowledge, make sure that they can apply what they have read. Ask, questions, and be prepared for the answer.....I can't read! So what do you do you tell your high schooler their life depends on it and you ride them everday of their life that you see them to fix their problem.......Don't give up in other words my colleagues, Don't give in, Don't let them fool you into believe that they can't learn and won't learn they just need someon you to forget about their shortcomings and focus on how to get them back into this game of life.

What is a Blog?

Well you see a blog is a method of communication that the world can see. A form of personal controlled media that allows the world to see whatever component of yourself you deem important for them to see. For my means, the means of a modest science teacher I would like to communicate with my parents and students and give both ample oppurtunities and methods to communicate through. Many times when students have questions, I will have answers, but more importantly their question is often shared by another, therefore the discussuions engineered by this site may help not just you but many others around you. It is also a great place for me to share my email address and class website. I will even leave you with a video about blogging in the picture shown to the left. You may also have heard of an even more recent phenomena that allows internet users to share information with each other and it is called RSS and their is a great video about what exactly it is and it's usefulness right here!
What's Happening?

My name is William Jackson and this is my first Blog ever. I hope I have many more to go and much learning to facilitate because of it. Welcome! this is yet another extension of my recent thrust to improve my communication with parents through the use of the various tools on the internet. If you have any questions about your student progress or comments about my class please feel free to post them here. Hopefully though if you want to rip me too bad then you will send me a personal note through email. I will continue to stride to improve upon communicating with parents and also assisting your students ignore the moonwalking bears in life. I know it sounds like crazyness but just check out the video linked in this cartoon to the right.
